Demodex mites
Microscopic mites naturally live on human skin — but when they overpopulate around the eyelashes, they cause significant irritation and inflammation.
Demodex & Blepharitis
Itchy, red, crusty eyelids are more than an annoyance — they're signs of a real condition that gets worse without treatment. We can help.
Understanding the condition
Many patients live with these symptoms for years — dismissing them as allergies or dry eyes.
Microscopic mites naturally live on human skin — but when they overpopulate around the eyelashes, they cause significant irritation and inflammation.
The resulting eyelid inflammation — redness, swelling, crusting along the lash line, and chronic discomfort. The two conditions are closely linked and often occur together.
Both are progressive. The longer they go untreated, the more damage accumulates to your eyelid glands and ocular surface.
Our approach
We don't just mask symptoms — we eliminate the cause: the mite infestation and the resulting inflammation, for lasting relief.
One professional deep exfoliation of the eyelid margins removes the biofilm, crusting, and debris Demodex mites feed on — priming your lids so the IPL treatments that follow are as effective as possible.
Targeted light energy kills Demodex mites and seals inflamed blood vessels — stopping the inflammatory cycle at its source. Sessions are spaced so each one builds on the last.

They explained very thoroughly everything they were doing — imaging, dry eyes, blepharitis. I learned more about my eyes in one visit than I had in years of using drops.
Dr. Tran was incredibly thorough. She found the real problem with my eyes that other doctors had missed. My comfort has improved dramatically.
Common questions
Common signs include itchy or crusty lash lines (especially in the morning), red swollen eyelids, recurring styes, and eyelash dandruff. Dr. Tran confirms the diagnosis with magnified imaging of your lash line — you'll see exactly what we see.
No. Deep Eyelid Cleaning feels like a professional exfoliation, and IPL sessions involve brief warm pulses of light with protective eye shields. Most sessions take 20–30 minutes with no downtime.
Most patients complete one Deep Eyelid Cleaning followed by 3–4 IPL sessions spaced a few weeks apart. Dr. Tran will confirm your plan at your evaluation.
Home hygiene helps maintain results, but it can't eliminate an established mite overpopulation or the inflamed blood vessels driving the cycle. That's what the in-office protocol addresses.
The evaluation is often covered by medical insurance. Treatment packages are self-pay, and we accept CareCredit, FSA, and HSA — we'll verify your benefits before your visit.
Demodex and blepharitis are highly treatable. You don't have to keep suffering — let's get to the root of it.
