Chalazion & Stye
Relief That Actually Works.
A persistent lump on your eyelid or a recurring stye isn't something you have to just wait out. At Aura Eye Center, we treat the root cause โ not just the symptom.
Stye vs. Chalazion โ What's the Difference?
A stye is a bacterial infection of the eyelid glands near the lash line โ it appears as a painful, red bump, similar to a small pimple. It tends to come on quickly and feel tender or sore.
A chalazion develops when a Meibomian gland becomes blocked and inflamed. It tends to grow slowly, is less painful than a stye, but can become quite large and may press on the eye โ blurring vision.
Both conditions involve the Meibomian glands โ the oil-producing glands inside your eyelids. When these glands malfunction, chalazions and styes are one of the first signs of a bigger underlying issue.
Treating the Cause, Not Just the Lump.
At Aura Eye Center, we use a combination of controlled thermal heating and expert gland expression to resolve chalazions and persistent styes โ and help prevent them from coming back.
Controlled Thermal Heating
We apply precise, controlled heat to the eyelid area to soften the hardened, blocked oils inside the Meibomian glands. This gentle warming breaks down the blockage that caused the chalazion or stye to form.
Meibomian Gland Expression
Following the heating, we perform expert manual expression of the glands โ carefully applying pressure to expel the obstructed oils. This restores proper gland function and promotes natural tear production with the antibodies needed to fight future infection.
